About Me
Wendy Marsh - Counsellor and Supervisor
Having completed my first Introduction to Counselling course after receiving help myself I come to counselling from personal experience of how life changing it can be. Now with several years experience and having seen hundreds of clients I have witnessed how it has helped them to!
I believe that counselling is a partnership and so it is important that the therapeutic relationship is strong. I feel privileged that working from a comfortable welcoming space in my home in Newton Aycliffe I can help others to take those first tentative and brave steps on a journey of exploration. I am constantly in awe of the bravery of my clients. Seeing someone change before my eyes is still a unique and wonderous experience. Counselling can and should be a challenging but fulfilling experience.
My core approach is Person-Centred, which basically means I work with what you chose to bring to the session. I believe that each person, if given the correct conditions, can gain greater self-awareness and insight into their situation. You are the expert on your situation but you may not feel that way! My aim is to walk beside you as you find your way through your difficulties. In the words of Julia Donaldson "You can't go under it, you can't go over it, you have to go through it" but no one said you had to do it alone ;-)
I have worked with various issues but have particular experience helping people who have experienced challenging or toxic relationships be that romantic, family or friendships.
