Supervision

I believe that Counselling Supervision is all about helping other counsellors grow, making sure we work ethically, and supporting each other through the ups and downs. My journey as a supervisor isn’t just about degrees and jobs, but about encouraging others and believing in what we do together.

How I Got Here

I have been a private practice counsellor for seven years, I am lucky enough to work from my home address and work a lot with people who have suffered relational trauma through romantic relationships or toxic parenting.  My base training is person centred and I very firmly believe in a strong therapeutic relationship both in counselling and in supervision.  My practice is also informed by psychodynamic approaches, TA and solution focused therapy.  I hold a Diploma in Clinical and Counselling supervision which included the use of creative mediums which I also use where appropriate.

My Supervision Style

Every supervisee, like every client, is different, so I aim to meet you where you are. Building trust and having honest, open chats are really important to me. I want people to feel safe talking about challenges, sharing wins, or working through tricky situations.

I mix and match supervision models depending on what’s needed:

  • Developmental Models: I change my approach as you gain experience, giving more direction when you’re new, and more space as you grow.

  • Integrative Models: I draw on different counselling theories and help you find the mix that works best for you.

  • Reflective Practice: We’ll talk through cases, ask questions, and reflect together, so you can get to know yourself as a practitioner.

My core values are kindness, being real, and fairness. Ethics are huge for me, so we’ll talk boundaries, confidentiality, and how to work well with people from all backgrounds. I encourage supervisees to think about power dynamics and how our own backgrounds shape the work we do.

What I Bring To Supervision

I try to make supervision a space where you can be yourself. Some things I focus on include:

  • Listening properly: Really being present and hearing what you have to say.

  • Helpful feedback: I’m honest but supportive—I want you to feel challenged and encouraged.

  • Empathy: Getting where you’re coming from, both personally and professionally.

  • Making sense of things: Helping you work through complicated cases and plan your next steps.

  • Boundaries: Making sure we keep things professional and safe for everyone involved.

  • Cultural awareness: Being sensitive to what makes each of us unique.

What Matters To Me

I believe everyone I supervise brings something special to the table, and I love helping people find their confidence and style. My aim is to support you while helping you become more independent. I keep up with ethical guidelines and like to make sure we talk openly about any dilemmas or challenges.

Diversity and Inclusion

I’m committed to making the supervision space open to everyone, regardless of culture, race, gender, sexuality, ability, or background. I work on recognising my own biases and encourage you to do the same. Together, we can explore how to work well with all clients and keep learning about social issues that affect our work.

Looking Ahead

Supervision is a lifelong journey for me. I’m always looking for feedback and ways to improve, whether that’s learning more about trauma, exploring online supervision, or working with people from different backgrounds. I’m excited about the future of counselling and want to help make it as ethical, inclusive, and effective as possible.

Final Thoughts

In the end, being a counselling supervisor is about connection, growth, and ethical care. I’m grateful for the chance to support others on their journey and to help create a community where both counsellors and clients can thrive.

I offer an initial free 30 minute online session where we can chat about what you need from your supervison and work out if we are a good fit.  This is what my supervisor offered when I was looking to change and it was really helpful in my choice.  Please get in touch if you feel this would be helpful.
